Setting up a Chromecast for Use
Connect the ethernet cable and power adaptor to the chromecast and plugin to an available HDMI port on the TV. The ethernet cable should be connected to a network port connecting to the HSCN network and the power adaptor into a UK plug socket.
When the chromecast is first turned on you will need to connect the controller, after fitting the 2 x AAA batteries into the remote (included under power supply in chromecast box).
- Then choose - setup on tv instead (to avoid the need for google home app) it will then download a system update.
- Next it will show a screen saying connected before presenting another loading screen.
- Next you need to login with the email address and password associated to a google account.
- Then accept google terms and services (switch off all optional services)
- Choose no thanks to save device app info.
- And the same to search across apps - no thanks
- Choose services - Unselect all possible apps (YouTube mandatory).
- Choose not now for Setup remote power and volume for remote.
- Set profile lock (to prevent changes to the profile without a password).
From there you can then cast the page you need, however, there are some extra settings we would recommend for security:
Turn on "apps only mode" from account profile.
Under Network and Internet: turn off Wi-Fi
Under system: Turn off power saving mode Turn off scan for nearby devices
Under apps - all apps: Go through and uninstall all unused apps.
Under Remotes and accessories: Choose the remote and then select update.
